Walton Music House began in 1957 when Arthur Jamieson bought out the remaining stock of a music store that went out of business. Art was the band director at Walton Central School at the time and wanted his students to have a place where they could buy reeds, valve oil, lyres and all of the accessories necessary to play an instrument in the band.
The business outgrew Art's home and he moved the store and his family to a bigger house with 6 bedrooms. In 1985, Art's son Larry joined him in the business and bought him out a few years later. The shop moved in 1995 to a free standing building on North Street, and in 2015 moved to our new location at 208 Prospect Avenue (Route 206) in Walton. Larry's son Nathan recently bought the business and is now the 3rd generation family owner.
Nathan Jamieson is a SUNY New Paltz graduate and enjoys music and theater. He teaches voice lessons, plays baritone horn in the Walton Community Band, and is active in the Delaware River Stage Company. He sings tenor in his church choir.
Larry Jamieson is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He plays bass and pedal steel guitar with local bands, teaches at Walton Music House, and sings tenor in a local church choir.
